This is the best option for those in a hurry, or for those who aren’t too keen on getting behind the scenes in a website.

To add your own listing to this directory, simply fill in the boxes on this page and then press the ‘Submit’ button at the very bottom.

  • Fields marked with * must be filled in – you can leave the rest, but the more content the better!

  • If you’d like a category that isn’t shown (eg, the name of the town where you work), put it in the ‘Any other categories’ box
  • If you have another picture of yours you’d like to show, put it on a photo sharing site (like Photobucket or Facebook), and put its URL (web address) into the  ’Tell us about your business here’ box
  • If you would like to add a video of yours that you’d like to show, paste the URL into the ‘Tell us about your business here’ box
  • If you don’t have something to put in a field (box), just leave it blank so the heading doesn’t show in your listing
  • Please note, we reserve the right or edit or delete content (spellings, broken links, unsuitable material, etc)
  • Please note, if you need your listing edited you’ll need to contact us
  • (NOTE: any posts or events you add can be edited by you!)

Please note that we have a quick look at all listings before they go live, and will correct any obvious typos or mistakes; after that, any changes/updates you ask us to make will incur a small charge. Any problems, contact us.

How to add an editable directory listing

If you haven’t already, set up a user account on this page ; then check your inbox and click on the verification link. Once you have a user account, you can log in through this page, the login page, or through bestfootcare.co.uk/wp-login.php 

  1. The first time you log in, you’ll see a red notice asking if you want to change your password to something more easy to remember, so you might like to do that! Just click on the link shown, or click on the Profile tab in the left hand menu
  2. Look to the left and you’ll see ‘Listings’ in the menu. Click on that and then ‘Add New Listing’
  3. In the box where it says, ‘Enter title here’, put the name of your business
  4. Now scroll to the side/down to below the editing area and fill in the various things you will find:
    1. Tick the category or categories you want to appear under
    2. If there is another category you want to appear under (your town name, for example), put it in the appropriate box and we’ll add it for you
    3. Click on the Save Draft button (and do so regularly hereafter)
    4. fill in the ‘Tags’ – that is, put in keywords to do with your business (eg, business name, foot care, town name, nail cutting, etc)
    5. Put in your address and postcode (or longitude and latitude coordinates) into the Google Maps Address box
    6. Add your website address in the Company Website box
    7. The other boxes are self-explanatory. If you have nothing to put, leave a box blank, and then the heading won’t show
  5. Next, scroll back up, click in the editing area, and add some blurb about your business. It’s not as powerful as using Word, for example, you can add bold, italic, bullets, etc, if you wish. Note the editing area is not quite WYSIWYG, but it’s not too far off
    1. Remember to save a draft of your work as you go along
    2. If you wish to add another photo here, or a podcast or video, you’re very welcome. However, don’t upload them to this site/our servers! Please put them on sharing sites (such as YouTube and Flickr) and put the embed code or URL in the web page. (NOTE: You will need to switch to the HTML tab at the top of the editing box to do this; save your work before going back to the Visual tab.)
  6. When you’re finished, click the ‘Publish’ button, and your page will appear for us to verify; we’ll get it live as soon as possible – sorry it can’t go live straight away; blame that on spammers
  7. When your page is live, make sure to Tweet, Share, Like and bookmark!
FAQs: I can see other people’s listings? Can they see mine and alter it? No – if you click on them, you’ll go straight to their live page. Each person can only edit their own listings.

When we’ve verified your business, you can log in and you’ll see some extra functions have appeared in the menu to your left, including ‘Posts’.

  1. When you’ve logged in:
    1. Look to the left and locate ‘Posts’ in the menu, near the top
    2. Click ‘Add New’, and a new post/blog page will open up
    3. Fill in your title, making it sound interesting, and including a key word or phrase 
    4. Fill in the details in the main box
    5. Tick which categories you want the post to appear under
    6. Add tags (words relevant to your post)
    7. Set an image you want featured (see sidebar, bottom left); please make it 150px wide; if you don’t have an image, no matter
    8. If you wish to add another image, audio or video, use the ‘Add Media’ icon (full details in the PDF; link above)
    9. If you wish, scroll to the bottom and fill in the SEO boxes
    10. Click the ‘Publish’ button which you’ll see to your left
    11. Go to the website and click on the articles link and you’ll see your post there
  2. NOTE: If you want to create your post today but don’t want it to appear until another day, alter the date in the sidebar (top right)
  3. NOTE: Do the main bit of writing in Word (or similar) first, so that if the internet goes off, your work isn’t lost! 
  4. Please save in draft mode as you go along, and the fully save using the ‘publish’ button at the end. (This stops the post being Tweeted numerous times!)

When we’ve verified your business, you can log in and you’ll see some extra functions have appeared in the menu to your left, including ‘Calender’.

  1. When you’ve logged in:
    1. Look to the left and locate ‘Calender’ in the menu
    2. A calender will open up: choose the date you want, and click on it
    3. A form will appear; fill in all the bits you can (You must fill in the yellow fields/boxes)
    4. Click save, and the event will appear on the calender
    5. If anyone clicks on the event, the details you filled in will appear
  2. To edit an event, log in, click on ‘calender’ in the left menu, and click on the day you want to change
  3. Edit the information and click the ‘Update’ button
